Freedom Boat Club Jacksonville Holds Event For Charity

For a second year, the Freedom Boat Club franchise in Jacksonville provided a day out on the water for Dreams Come True.

The non-profit organization provides experiences for children from northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, ages 2 to 18, who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The organization has granted more than 3,600 Dreams over the years.

As part of the special event on March 31 at Julington Creek Marina, the children were invited to participate in a special christening ceremony for one of the club’s new 21-foot Key West bowriders, which was named Dreams Come True to honor the association and its work in the area.

“We loved being able to serve these great kids and recognize this outstanding organization,” Freedom Boat Club Jacksonville CEO Lisa Almeida said in a statement. “We are especially pleased to be name one of our boats in its honor and in recognition of all of the special children it serves.”

The ceremony included a toast with sparkling grape juice for the kids, followed by a leisurely cruise and fun ride to Green Cove Springs, where participants and guests were treated to a picnic lunch.
