Chicago Air & Water Show Weekend
Chicago Air and Water Show weekend is upon us once again! The weekend is one of the largest attended free events in the world and also one of the biggest headaches for travel in the city this weekend.
To help you gain access to Montrose Harbor, we have printed member passes for all skippers. Please note that these passes are NOT parking passes but should help you gain entrance to Montrose Harbor. It is anticipated that Montrose Avenue will be closed as well as all entrances to the park around 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. If at all possible please try to use public transportation as it will be very difficult to enter and exit the area.
When entering Montrose Park please have your pass displayed and if asked explain that you are a member of Freedom Boat Club on Dock L and that you have access to parking in the reserved boater lot upon arrival at the club.
Unfortunately, your Freedom Boat Club pass does not guarantee you entrance, but we have made all efforts to make sure that parking enforcement will honor the member passes and grant you access.
Passes are available to be picked up at the club.
These passes will be used from now on when you are requesting a parking pass. Please bring the member pass to the club and we will exchange it for a parking pass.
The Chicago Air & Water Show not only makes getting around the streets of Chicago difficult, there are also several areas on the lake which are restricted. Please make sure you are navigating clear of these areas.
Chicago Air & Water Show weekend is also be a busy weekend for Coast Guard safety checks and Chicago Marine Unit stops. Please make sure you know where all safety gear is on the boat as well as registration. Our dock staff should give you an orientation before you leave the dock.
Lastly, when entering and exiting Montrose Harbor please make sure that you are abiding by the slow no wake speed limit.
The weather looks to be exceptional. Enjoy the Show!
