Peanut Island

This is a Florida State Park right on the Intracoastal Waterway directly at the entrance to the Lake Worth Inlet to the ocean. There is a sand bar that covers half the side of the island and boats can anchor and hang out and play all day. Peanut Island provides a multitude of activities for people enjoying the island. It is one of the most popular destinations in South Florida and has been written up in nearly every travel magazine. The island is 15 minutes from our marina by water and the #1 spot for our boaters.

Fishing Spots

Lake Worth Inlet

Along the eastern seaboard of the USA the Gulf Stream flows along the coastline ranging typically around 10-12 miles off shore. That is where you will catch the fish of your dreams! Off the Lake Worth Inlet we are blessed with the only location where the geography works to our advantage and the Gulf Stream is literally only 3 miles off shore. As a result we have the biggest fishing clientele of any Freedom Boat Club nationwide and we have the largest fleet of fishing boats in the entire organization!

Fishing

The "Gold Coast" is golden when it comes to offshore fishing. One of Florida's safest inlets is Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet. Our location is only 15 minutes to the Inlet.  The "drop"- a common term in Palm Beach - refers to drop off in around 120 feet of water. From 75 feet to 200 hundred is the preferred depth range when targeting sailfish and kingfish. The beaches from Lake Worth, to north of Jupiter Inlet are consistent producers and provide light tackle and fly anglers steady action.  The Gulf Stream is only 3 miles off shore from our inlet with great fishing a short distance away.

Spectacular snook and tarpon fishing can take place in the deep water inside Palm Beach Inlet, dredged to allow the safe passage of cruise ships, it can reach depths of more than 40 feet. "The turning basin" and "the boil" remain two of many "hot spots" located near by. Peanut Island will provide a safe haven for those looking to set up shop on the leeward side of the wind. Live bait produces best hear due to the heavy boat traffic.

Spinner sharks provide a great fishing opportunity off Florida's coast. John MacArthur Park on Singer Island has a rocky shoreline and attracts loads of bluefish and spanish mackerel during the winter months. Surf fishing in this area is productive as well. Spinner sharks love to feed on bluefish can be tussled with here. A live blue fish flown from a kite is a spectacular way to attract spinners.

Check with the Dockmaster for updates on where to catch the big ones!
