(Seabrook Island, SC)
Brand New Fleet Arriving March 2017!
Welcome to Freedom Boat Club of Seabrook Island:
Vibrant, graceful and dynamic.
The beautiful view as you depart the Bohicket Marina includes historic plantation homes, working shrimp and fishing docks, and the pre-Revolutionary War village of Rockville. Just ahead lies the entrance to the graceful North Edisto River, where dolphins play by the boats, and abundant bird life – some 10,000 pelicans, gulls, wills and many more – nest on Deveaux Bank, an island rookery. Ten minutes away by boat, Botany Island is a serene destination for shell searching, swimming or basking in the sun.
Traveling northward up the river, boaters can visit the ACE Basin, the East Coast’s largest estuarine preserve. Here, fresh river waters combine with the sea to form a dynamically complex environment for plant and animal life, so it is never the same place twice. The Basin’s rich high and low marshlands, low-lying islands, and plentiful waterways serve as home to dolphins, alligators, minks, otters, raccoons, deer, eagles, osprey, wood storks and countless other wildlife. While the tidal creeks and freshwater rivers nourish shrimp, crabs, oysters, clams and varieties of fish.
Cruise to Charleston in an hour, by way of the intracoastal waterway. One of the city’s charms includes Battery Park, which showcases lavish homes like the Edmonston-Alston house, the Calhoun Mansion and the Palmer House. Stop and have lunch aboard your boat, or dock and enjoy the local waterfront fare. Tired of the busy waterways just turn around and you are headed back to the quite serenity of Bohicket Marina.
