Newburyport
Newburyport, MA

Welcome to Freedom Boat Club of Newburyport, the intelligent and affordable alternative to boat ownership.

We are located at Hilton's Marina (54 Rear Merrimac Street) and our boats are docked directly in front of The Black Cow Restaurant on the Newburyport waterfront.

Our members enjoy unlimited use of our full fleet at both our Newburyport and Portsmouth locations, as well as reciprocal use at 68 other U.S. locations from coast-to-coast. This gives you a number of great boating options locally while also allowing you to explore new waters when you are traveling.

Our members simply call or go online to reserve the boat and the day they want to go boating. When they show up, the boat is warmed up and ready to go. When they return, they simply hand us the keys and walk away! There is no maintenance or repairs to worry about, no insurance payments or storage costs to pay for, and definitely no cleaning. FBC is boating at it's best!

Please watch our "See How the Club Works" video for a full overview of the club.

* You can also stay up to date with the happenings at FBC Newburyport by "liking" our Facebook page and through our blog.

Michael's Harborside

Michael's Harborside began its storied past in the 17th century as a commercial fishing wharf and warehouse.

With visits form ships and people (some would say characters) from around the world much has been viewed, talked about and witnessed. Since that time, One Tournament Wharf has continued to change and evolve through many incarnations. Starting with a fishing wharf, it became a mercantile center, an eel farm and then a major export for tuna heading to market in far off Japan.

This scenic location saw its first use as a restaurant in the early 1970s as an Irish Pub, "The Boomkin". Gradually expanding through the years with the additions of decks, dining rooms, and kitchens, it has become the landmark restaurant of present day.

Just as our restaurant is a product of its colorful history so is the menu you see today, influenced by the traditions of the past and inspired by tastes from around the world.

Wingaersheek Beach has white sands, crystal clear waters, and huge rocks in the water that you can climb around at low tide. The beach goes on forever at low tide and stays shallow for a long time - plenty of space for everyone.

With tidal pools to explore and lots of rock formations for climbing, Wingaersheek is a favorite for families with children.

Sandy Point State Reservation

Sandy Point is at the very southern tip of Plum Island, a classic Atlantic Ocean barrier island. The 77-acre park is among the state's most beautiful and popular coastal beaches. It is also an important nesting area for the piping plover, a threatened species, and the least tern, a species of special concern in Massachusetts. Passive recreational activities include walking, beachcombing, fishing and birding. Access is through the abutting Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.

Crane Beach

More than 1,200 acres of beachfront, dunes, and maritime forest are managed for both recreation and conservation. Elevated boardwalks, vegetation management programs, and fencing protect the dunes. More than five miles of designated trails traverse an extensive dune complex featuring swales that support amphibians and invertebrates. Cranberries and insect-eating carnivorous plants, such as sundews, also grow in these interdunal swales. Castle Neck is the site of the North Shore's largest maritime pitch pine forest.
