Fishing

Anglers have the opportunity to catch a variety of fish including grouper, redfish, trout, or flounder.  Explore some of the more protected areas such as Armand Bayou for prime fishing.

Speckled trout is one of the most popular sport fish along the Texas coast. They are most common in the shallow bays during spring and summer. As water temperatures decline during fall, fish move into deeper bay waters and the Gulf of Mexico.

The southern flounder is the largest of more than 25 species of flatfishes found in Texas coastal waters. It is highly prized as both a food and game fish and accounts for more than 95 percent of the flounder harvested in the state.

During the fall, the best catches of flounder are made in the channels and passes leading to the Gulf.  During the spring, wading anglers work the edges of channels and ICW as the fish are moving back into the bays.

Check with our Dockmaster for updates on where to catch the big ones!
