Location: Newport, Rhode Island
Welcome to Freedom Boat Club of Newport:
Enchanting, epic and festive.
Newport sits south of Narragansett Bay on Aquidneck Island (the largest island in the Bay), and our club is just south of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
The island itself is beholding to see, and is packed with blissful bicycle trails and vineyards to explore before or after your outing. And just a short boat ride away you will find historic Battleship Cove and picturesque Bristol Harbor where you can pull in for some great shopping, delicious dockside dining, or homemade ice cream.
On other days, visit historic Portsmouth and Wickford harbors where you can dock and enjoy fresh local fare while taking in the beautiful surroundings. After lunch, take a leisurely cruise to view the world famous Newport Mansions, Hammersmith Farm (the former summer home of Jaquelyn Onasis Kennedy), or post card picturesque Mackeral Cove where the only thing you will need to be worry about is your kids laughing too hard as they cannon ball you time and time again.
Speaking of kids, they will find endless hours of enjoyment and build memories for a lifetime as they swim, tube, fish, and enjoy exploring the many coves on the bay..not to mention experiencing the sights and sounds of the Blue Angles screaming a mere 300 feet overhead at the annual air show.
And as you head home, you will certainly want to take your time to soak in the amazing sunsets as you drift in Newport harbor knowing that reality is about to set in all too soon. Perhaps a dip in the marina pool before you head home will delay reality just a little bit longer.
