Day 1: Depart by Boat from Holland’s Yacht Basin

Morning:

Kick off your Michiana boating adventure in Holland, a town renowned for its Dutch heritage and vibrant waterfront. Start your day at Yacht Basin Marina, a family-friendly, full-service marina with amenities that include a pool, spa, restaurant, and more. Cruise along the calm waters of Lake Macatawa before venturing out to Lake Michigan to experience everything the scenic shoreline has to offer.

Afternoon:

We can’t think of a better afternoon activity than docking at Holland State Park to explore the sandy beaches. Be sure to snap a photo of the iconic Big Red Lighthouse before enjoying a lakeside picnic. And if you prefer to skip the picnic, visit Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant for delicious New American cuisine and prime views of the lake.

Evening:

As the daylight begins to fade, head back to Yacht Basin in time to enjoy the sunset views over Lake Macatawa from the docks. From there, wrap up the day by relaxing at the marina, which offers a tranquil setting after a day of exploration.

Day 2: Explore the Coastal Charm of Saint Joseph

Morning:

Begin your second day in Michiana at Harbor Shores Marina in Saint Joseph. Known for its quaint downtown and pristine beaches, Saint Joseph is the perfect spot for day two of your trip. Hop aboard the boat and begin exploring the waters of St. Joseph River. We recommend reserving a pontoon boat for your second trip with an outboard engine and plenty of seats for the whole crew. This is another great opportunity to venture onto Lake Michigan again or for open-water cruising, fishing, or water sports.

Afternoon:

It’s time to head to shore for some food! We recommend docking near The Inn at Harbor Shores, where you can indulge in a delicious lunch at The Grille, which overlooks the marina. After lunch, relax at Silver Beach, one of the most popular beaches in the area. Possible activities include walking along South Pier or taking a ride on the wonder-filled carousel.

Evening:

There’s no need to leave this beautiful area anytime soon. Stay awhile and treat yourself to dinner at Plank's Tavern on the Water, also located at The Inn, which offers refined coastal cuisine. And finish your second day with a calm cruise back to the marina before the sun dips below the horizon.

Day 3: Discover Marina Shores Yacht Club

Morning:

The final day of your Michiana trip begins at the Marina Shores Yacht Club in Portage, where luxury meets adventure on the tranquil waters of Northwest Indiana. Spend your morning exploring the Indiana Dunes National Park lakeshore by boat to marvel at the towering dunes and unique ecosystem.

Afternoon:

Make the most of your last afternoon by dropping an anchor for a swim or paddleboard session near one of the area’s quiet beaches. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, we recommend heading back to where you started and docking at the Marina Shores Yacht Club to experience the fresh local flavors and a relaxed atmosphere of their dining options.

Evening:

Finish your Michiana trip the right way with a final cruise on Lake Michigan before returning to the docks and taking in the sunset.
