Hart Outdoor Recreation Area

 

Swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing on Lake Hartwell are prime reasons to visit Hart Outdoor Recreation Area in northeast Georgia. Large mouth bass, hybrid bass, striper, black crappie, bream, rainbow trout and wall-eyed pike can be found in the sparkling waters of this 55,590-acre reservoir. The park’s boat ramps and docks offer easy access to all water sports. Visitors can also enjoy hiking/biking trails and a children’s playground. 

A self-registration campground is open seasonally, with most sites located on the scenic lake shore. Campsites feature water and electrical hook-ups, while hot showers and a pumping station are nearby.

The Hartwell Dam & Lake Visitor Center is a great stop for anyone needing more information about one of the Southeast's largest lakes, Hartwell Lake. Big Oaks Recreation Area is located adjacent to the visitor center. At Big Oaks, you will have a great view of Hartwell Lake from the picnic area. Take a walk on a paved (handicap accessible) walking trail that goes along the edge of Hartwell Lake and leads to the top of Hartwell Dam, where you have a scenic view of the lake, dam and the Savannah River.   

Hartwell Lake covers approximately 56,000 acres and offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including swimming, picnicking, camping, fishing and boating along its 962 miles of shoreline.

On the lower side of the dam, along the Savannah River, is one of the newest attractions in Hartwell, Ga.: the Hartwell Dam Fishing Pier. This pier is free and open to the public. Access it by driving to the Georgia River Recreation Area just one mile from the visitor center.

Clemson Marina

Clemson Marina is located on Lake Hartwell in Seneca, SC directly across the lake from the Clemson University football stadium and has a number of amenities including The Grill at Clemson Marina!  The Grill offers a much needed outdoor dining atmosphere and a unique tailgating experience during the college football season. This new way of tailgating is also known as "boatgating".

Clemson Marina has installed an all new fuel and pump-out dock and also opened a new service center with a Master Certified Mechanic on staff!
