Boatwerk's Waterfront Resturant

Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant opened Memorial Day Weekend of 2006. The property has a rich history on the lake. Past businesses occupying the property include an aggregate dock and storage area, a coal dock and a marine construction and dredging company. The building was designed to harken back to historic boat building factories that lined the shores of Lake Macatawa with exposed beams and brick. The bar top was created to mimic the decks of hand-crafted wooden boats made by the likes of Chris Craft with light wood inlays between darker mahogany boards. The walls are lined with historic photos of the Lake Macatawa, Lake Michigan and Holland areas. The restaurant continues to evolve and add features that enhance the guest experience. In 2008, the outdoor patio bar was added to create a comfortable outdoor lounge area. The next year saw the addition of glass walls along the boardwalk to create true waterfront tables right on the edge of the seawall. The next major change came in 2013 with the complete remodel of the dining room and indoor lounge. The areas were swapped to create a better dining experience for our guests with additional windows added to the North wall and an elevated seating area to ensure great lake views for every guest in the dining room. We know that with growth, change must also come. We are constantly looking for avenues and ideas to make Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant the most sought after dining experience on the lakeshore. The Boatwerks Banquet & Catering building, which was opened in January of 2013, was originally built as the ice house for Superior Ice Company. The ice was harvested from the frozen lake and stored in the building to be sold to the surrounding residents and businesses. This is evidenced by the nearly three feet thick walls. The building later became the offices for the different businesses occupying the property. Historic pictures of the building in its past lives are displayed as a mural above the elevated seating area in the main dining room. Summer of 2015 brought the addition of our new 5,600-square-foot Event Center featuring a more than 3,300-square-foot banquet and conference room, as well as new restroom facilities and a bride’s room. The addition allows us to host large weddings and business events for up to 300 people, about three times the amount the Macatawa Room can accommodate. The expansion came as the demand for large events has been on the rise.

Coral Gables

The building that Coral Gables has occupied for almost 60 years, was built in 1906. Although the inside has undergone numerous changes, the basic outside structure is the same the Leindecker boys from Chicago designed and built one hundred years ago. The Coral Gables Complex in Saugatuck, Michigan is one of the oldest family owned restaurant and bar sites in the state. Mike Johnson is the current owner, and sole surviving son of the founder, Tom Johnson. Tom purchased the Old Crow Bar and Hotel Saugatuck from Dale Crow in 1958. He quickly renamed the complex to Coral Gables, Hotel Saugatuck. Rental rooms were dropped in the early 1970's. However, customer demand has prompted us to revisit the possibility of Hotel Rooms, once again. Everything in Saugatuck is within walking distance of Coral Gables. Presently there are three restaurants, four bars, as well as year round banquet facilities. For fun, try our jet ski rentals, 32 foot rock climbing wall, and coin operated kiddie rides. We also offer a beautiful marina and a yacht brokerage.

The expansive beach is open to all who have purchased a day pass or a Recreation Passport. View Big Red Lighthouse directly across the channel to the south, or take a stroll north along the beachfront. Holland State Park offers fishing, a boat launch, a concession stand with modern restrooms and changing area, a small playground and camping.

Mermaid Bar and Grill

We are a family-owned, full service restaurant that welcomes all of our guests with a genuine smile and sometimes – a hug! Our staff is very special to our organization. We have team members who have been with us since we opened the doors, back in 1995! They have grown with the Mermaid as well – finishing college, getting married, and raising little families. We credit a large part of our customer loyalty to our service and kitchen staff. We go as far as to have special menu items for regular guests’ – (they even have their own button on the computer for that menu creation we make just for them!) Our guests also like to join us in the kitchen to see what is ‘happening’, or to see if the coconut cream pie bowl is available with an extra spatula! The staff of the Mermaid strives to provide the best experience for their guests’; from a beautiful outdoor garden, to some awesome food & drink specials… they all take pride in the job they do here at the Mermaid!

Located only minutes away from Yacht Basin Marina, Ottawa Beach Inn was established in 1972 as a family-owned and family-friendly restaurant known for its casual atmosphere, generous portions, and beachside location. Lakeshore residents and guests have gathered at Ottawa Beach Inn year after year, reviving the neighborhood bistro and building OBI into a Holland mainstay. The General Store

Summer's sweetness is enhanced as you visit the Ottawa Beach General Store.  Built in the late 1930's, the store is an iconic Holland tradition not to be missed.  Many grandparents remember visiting the store as small children with their grandparents - and continue the tradition today.   Savor the extensive candy and drink selection and shop for beach souvenirs as you enjoy a morning coffee and doughnuts.  Lunch here is a great option - enjoy a steaming hot dog or delicious fresh sandwich.  Sweatshirts, t-shirts and toys line the shelves - as well as a mini grocery store complete with camping supplies. Purchase your BEER, WINE and LIQUOR for evening get togethers at the cottage. Our liquor selection is extensive, our wines chosen by experts, and we feature local craft beers as well as old time favorites.      No summer is complete without the many flavors of ICE CREAM to be enjoyed on the deck with friends and family under the shade of a red umbrella.
